2004 Alumni Banquet

The 2004 Banquet will be at Roaring Brook Ranch Resort, Lake George. The Class of 1954 will be celebrating their 50-year anniversary. Other classes to be recognized are those who graduated in years ending in “9" and “4". The banquet date is Saturday, June 19, 2004. Reservations must be RECEIVED by June 4, 2004.
The banquet is for all alumni - not just those celebrating anniversary years. Special emphasis is placed on anniversary years, but all classes are invited and encouraged to attend. Tables are designated for anniversary year classes - look for your table!
PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE THE ALUMNI BANQUET WITH YOUR INDIVIDUAL CLASS REUNION!
Over the past several years we have had alumni show up at the banquet thinking they have made reservations with us, when in reality, they had made reservations for their own class reunion. We certainly don't want to turn anyone away, but please be sure you're at the right reunion!!!!!
Hors d'oeuvres will be served at 6:00 p.m. with dinner at 7:00 p.m. . Music/dancing will follow dinner with Lee Pecue as DJ. Please be sure to fill out the reservation form contained in this newsletter. Reservation deadline is June 4, 2003. If anyone is interested in overnight accommodations at Roaring Brook Ranch Resort , call them at (518) 668-5767, or (800) 882-7665

Hallowed Hall
The "Hall" is located in the entry-corridor of the Main School on Lake Avenue and is an ongoing project.

Contribution in memory of George Smith
Members of the Class of 1983 have contacted the Association and would like to donate money collected in memory of fellow classmate’s father, George Smith, a former Social Studies teacher who passed away last year. They have asked that the monies be used to help defray the expenses of our "Hallowed Hall." Thank you Class of 1983!

News Flash!
Due to decreasing availability of banquet halls during the month of June, as well as the rising costs of meals, the Alumni Committee is considering holding the 2005 banquet in October (2005) at the school. Sally Gensel Deuel has offered to cater it. We hope all alumni will support us as we try something new. Your input would be greatly appreciated. The Committee is always open to suggestions and criticism (we know we can’t please all the people all the time!) as we strive to accommodate the alumni of HLCS.

Here's a true story submitted by an alumnus
When I was in the third grade my desk was located near the windows across the room from the teacher. One day as the teacher was reading to us I needed to get her attention "real bad." I knew it wasn't polite to talk when she was talking so I raised my hand When she looked up from her reading I put my hand down. I figured she had seen my hand. However, she didn't acknowledge me but continued reading. I again put my hand up and when she looked up again I put my hand down. This happened four or five more times. Finally she asked, "What is it you want?" My answer was, "Never, mind, it's too late." She looked absolutely disgusted for my interruptions, but asked again, "What Did you want?" My reply was, "I wanted to go to the bathroom!".
